DEFENSIVE PISTOL
This course works on taking your personal protection inside the home skills and knowledge and building on it. Learn concealed carry options, concealment techniques, safe drawing techniques, enhance your levels of awareness, and work on improving your shooting skills.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Participant equipment requirements: For participants to be successful in this course, they should have the following items, either personally owned or provided.
Quality Pistol appropriate for concealed carry – recommend minimum of 9 mm or .38 Special. No Single-action-only revolvers.
Quality Strong Side Hip Holster – recommend form fitted leather or kydex, must cover trigger/trigger guard. NO SERPA holsters, or holsters that use trigger finger to release firearm from holster.
Quality Belt, designed to carry a holster and a firearm strongly recommended
Quality ammunition suitable for practice. Encourage students to have at least two hundred rounds.
Spare magazines or speed loaders with appropriate pouches – at least two spares.
Clothing appropriate for concealed carry
Eye protection
Hearing protection - recommend electronic
NOTE: NO LIVE AMMUNITION DURING ANY CLASSROOM PRESENTATIONS OR DRY FIRE EXERCISES!
PREREQUISITES: This course is for adults that may legally possess a firearm & have the defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course.
Participants must understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense
Must know and observe not only general gun safety rules
But also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations.
Pass the pre-course evaluation
FIREARM REQUIREMENTS: Your may bring your own firearm to use that is .38 caliber through 45 caliber (pending instructor inspection for safety -and operation) or you may rent a firearm. No single-action-only revolvers allowed. Prior arrangement is necessary for rental from the instructor. If you are renting, you are responsible for providing good quality factory ammunition for the rental gun.
AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS: Bring at least 250 rounds of good quality factory ammunition (I recommend 300). If you are renting a gun talk to the instructor regarding the caliber you will need.
WHAT TO BRING: The range is outdoors with access to cover.
Ear & eye protection

Water & snacks for the classroom
Lunch for in the classroom
Clothing layers for on the range, appropriate footwear.
